The Power Shield X series is a product of years of research into problems
dealing with false over load that cause premature shut do wn of DCC Boosters and
other Ci rcuit Breake rs. These false ov erloads are caused by large cap acitors used
in sound systems decoder s or ligh ted pa ssenger cars. The ove rload appear s as a
short circuit until the capacitors are charged. The logic on the n ew P ow er S hi eld X

daptive Load R eset: Electronically determines if the overload is a real short or due to excess
capacitance in sound decoders or lighted passenger cars.
Boost for Low Power Systems: Some low p ower DCC Systems boosters need a boost w hen resetting.
Adding this jumper helps res et low pow er output systems.
uto Stop w ith C V Reset: A pho toc el l i npu t c an d ete ct a train in th e re ve rse sec t ion and tu rn off power. A DCC
command can then restor e the pow er.
Block Detection: Either a photo cell or cu rrent can be used to detect a train in a block. The p hotocell
can turn off the block.

Over Voltage Protection: If t here is an over voltage on th e track caused by a DCC System
failure or other power inputs the PSX w ill shut down and protect decoders
Wide Range of Current Trip Setting: The currents can be adju sted over a range of 1.27 to 17.8 amps.
Values can be set eit her w ith CV settings or Jumpers.
Very Low Volt age Drop: Breaker On r esist ance i s l ess t han 0. 060 o hms, so th e PS X h as a lo w v oltag e
drop even at high currents. Much bett er than detectors t hat u se a diode vo ltage drop.
Manual or Automatic Reset: Automatic reset of the breaker after 2 seconds. A sw itch can b e used for a
