x2Fs” LED: Indicates that the unit
is in “fast” mode (88.2/96 kHz sampling).
Power Switch push on, push off
On power-up, the PSX performs a self-test and
then recalled settings illuminate. To set the
unit to its factory defaults (other than DIP
switch settings), hold the OUTPUT RES button
down during power-up, until the lights come
on.
Optical Output Selection: Press the
button to toggle the Optical output between
ADAT and S/PDIF.
AES/EBU Auxiliary Output: The
Aux Out is a digital AES/EBU output pro-
viding a “clean feed” from the system, eg
for high accuracy metering. It delivers
the same signal as is present at the D/A
input, and can act as an additional paral-
lel AES/EBU output, or it can be used to
record, for example, a full-resolution 24-
bit mix while the other outputs are deliv-
ering 16- or 20-bit feeds with UV22.
Main AES/EBU inputs: The two inputs
can be individually selected from the front
panel. Both connectors are used for 88.2/96
kHz operation.
S/PDIF Coaxial Input: An industry-
standard RCA connector provides S/PDIF
coaxial input capability.
A/D Sync This button determines the Sync
Source for the A/D section of the PSX-100.
Repeated button-presses cycle through Crystal
(44.1/88.2 or 48/96 kHz), Word Clock, digital
input or video (the latter only with sync card
option). Hold the button down for 2 seconds
to engage or disengage “fast” mode (“2xFs”
light goes on/off).
Soft Limit: Apogee’s proprietary Soft Limit
circuitry enables you to get maximum digital
level without risking digital “overs”.
Optical I/O: This interface can be front-
panel selected to offer either ADAT or S/PDIF
optical protocols. In ADAT mode, ABS track
sets (including stereo at 96kHz on a 16-bit
48kHz machine!) may be output for recording,
and recombined for replay via the D/A or
transfer to other digital outputs.
Analog Inputs & Outputs: Line-
level analog I/O on XLR connectors. DIP
switches allow the selection of pin 2 or 3
hot, and the inputs and outputs can be
set separately for either professional or
consumer level operation.
Dual AES/EBU Outputs: XLR connectors
deliver the two main 2-channel AES/EBU out-
puts. Both connectors are used for 88.2/96
kHz operation.
Mute Left/Right: Pressing the button tog-
gles the mute function on/off. The LED indi-
cates that the channel is MUTED.
Output Res: Repeated pressing of this but-
ton cycles through the available word length
options 20 or 16-bit with UV22 (44.1/48 only),
or full 24-bit.
